Hair today, gone tomorrow...

If not tomorrow, definitely by this weekend. I have gotten to the point where I am completely fed up with this partially natural/partially relaxed hair. I now know why some chicks that decide to go natural perform the big chop (think India Arie). Transitioning is a mf'er and it's not cute. I am rocking scarfs, bandanas, hats and the like everyday all ready, so if I cut this mess out nobody will see! I will most likely take the 1/2 head of babies I got in the front and crown down and rock a fro till a loctician hooks me back up. Since my babies are young that shouldn't be hard to do. I am keeping my babies in the kitchen tho', those my bay bays! I refuse to let them go! Do I have the money for a loctician? Not right now, but I will, so it's all good.

I will look like a butch dyke for awhile with my tee shirt, jeans and occasional jersey, but you know what? My hair will grow back to length that's more fitting to my face soon enough....

This relaxed crap just has to GO!

so basically, guys go through their "ackward" stages when growing out their hair and have to deal wit it, and you can't? You got this! I say wrap it up like you about to go sell bean pies (or tote your kids ot the drinking gord on yo back) and work it out!

*eyeroll* Work it out? Work it out? Work-it-out????? You just don't understand man! Not like this! This is different! LOL

I would have to cut my relaxed hair out eventually anyways so I am just cutting it all out atone time vs. bit by bit like I orginally planned.

I don't got this, well I got it, I just don't want it! ROFL

Believe me the choice really hurts my feelings, but I gotsta do what I gotsta do! *sigh*

I think it's a good decision. I really thought about locking my hair a few years ago. But someone told me that my hair probably wouldn't really lock because it is so fine and thin. So I didn't want to go thru the trouble if it wasn't going to come out right. But I love to see people with locks... Go on and work it out girl!

Hush E! LOL

Trina, folks with fine hair can loc too, it just takes a good while longer so I read. Our white and asian counterparts rock locks so it all about how long you can wait for your hair to do what it do.

I love to see a nice head of locs too.

I feel your pain! And my hairdresser is AWOL - just closed shop POOF GONE! I want a male hairdresser this time! Ok I went from the freaking Toni Braxton to whatever is currently going on on my head today. If it wern't for my fascination with putting in my own weave and other hair appendages I would have said phuck it and cut it back off but now I have a baby ponytail and I'm starting to remember when I had hair, lol So I trudge forward - now my thing is I want to find a non "Im a big girl" Hairstyle, lol

My big chop wasn't really big LOL..it was more like let my hair grow and wear braids till I can cut the relaxed hair off and I won't look like a man LOL...so umm yea I didn't have a big chop phase..I went from braids to locs...I am so blessed the my roomie twists my hair for me and I didn't have to find a loctician..man that would have been a blower.

Gotta love those family events LOL

LOL, Pam your silly! I feel you on the inbetween. But ummmm how your hairdresser just gonna bounce and not tell nobody? That's bad business! Most the male hairdressers I know do some serious work you hear me? But I have never had a male in my hair...well not styling it anyways *wink*

Sar, Imma handle it shawty! LOL I swear "shawt" or "shawty" makes me laugh or smile everytime.

Honey, I am not doing a full blown chop either. I'll have about an inch of hair *sigh* My plan was to twist out but this ain't working for me, LOL!

Your so lucky to have a friend to hook your hair up for you.

i had to go through that too so i feel your pain. i was in that inbetween stage but i ended up going wavecap low with mine. i did look a bit butch with it, but i have to say it made me act more feminine. like i started wearing mini-skirts and booty shorts. i guess i was overcompensating, trying to let the brothas know "yo...i'm still on ya team, playa..."

i want to loc sooo much, but like trina, my hair is very fine and thin, and it'll just look a stringy mess. i can't even do 2 strand twists because of that. :-(
props to you for doing the big chop! when i started going natural (4 years next month!) i was too afraid to cut it all off. so, i wore my hair braided all the time and just cut out the perm when it was time to take the braids. in hindsight, i probably should have just done a chop and saved myself A LOT of $$. oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

at any rate, good luck with the process!

Welcome to the club honey natuaral is where its at. The transition is always hard at first but with the right confidence and attitude you just have to rock it. i wear my hair in all kinds of styles but get the most compliments when it is natural. i still get my weave on every now and then but never a perm.

Nikki, now that is an idea! Get more femme when I do it! To bad fat girls aren't allowed to wear booty shorts in public! LOL

BB, you could loc but it'll take a lot of time. Hindsight is a mofo! Thanks!

Southern, nothing wrong with loving the relaxer. I just got tired of it! LOL

LadyJ, Oh I been in the club (kinda) for a few months now. I just gotta work on the attitude part that goes with it.

Never say never TG! Natural hair is nothing to be afraid of and there is nothing wrong with relaxed hair. I think it's a good look on most people provided they keep it touched up, LOL!
