My coworker Big Chips came to my office yesterday and asked me if I filed my taxes. I naturally assumed that she was asking to see which electronic program I use since a few days ago that's what another coworker asked cuz he wanted to file electronically this year. So I told her I did.....
"Did you get it back yet?"
*confused* "uhhhh no, not yet" *given her the look like why you asking?
"Oh I was gonna ask you for a favor"
*blown* "oh"
"Did you file recently?"
"Something like that"
"Oh I just did mine yesterday"
"oh okay" *As I am turning back towards the computer which is her sign to go*
Now I have thought about this on and off last night and I am still thinking about it. If she is asking about my TAXES that mean she was about to ask me for some real money, not just lemme borrow $5 for some lunch type stuff. She was bout to ask me for some real money! I can't wrap my head around it! Granted, years ago she asked me for a 3 digit number because she fell on a hard moment and it was the week before payday (we are paid monthly) so I helped her and she gave it back. Then also @ that time Baby Daddy had wrecked my car so she would offer to take me to Pooka's sitter after work sometimes, so I kinda owed her even tho' I didn't ask for the rides.
But we just got paid a week ago PLUS her birthday was this past weekend! So whatever she need/wants to get or take care of could have been taken care of by a family member for her birthday or something! Then she has a "man" who she has been with for 10 or so years that NO ONE has seen! They got engaged about 3 years ago when 2 of my coworkers got married a month apart. So during that time the talk of office was wedding type stuff. Of course the spotlight can't be off us for so long so she popped up and was engaged. Matter of fact, she hasn't mentioned the engagement since that day! I should be cruddy and ask her about it, but that's not my style. Not to say that you have to bring your mate around the job, but she just lies so much most of us don't think this big baller exist! But if he does and he making money like she claim, why he didn't give her the money?
Sometimes I have the tendency to be too nice, but I am not a payday loan advance office! Neither is she close fam like my mom or something like that. But then if she was, it wouldn't be a loan but a payback cuz my close fam be coming out the pocket like it's nothing when Pooka needs something. So in my mind, I am forever in debt to them for their "gifts".
Shoot it's hard enough trying to budget my own money! But to give Big Chips some money?? I don't get it! Don't mistake my kindness for craziness! I am hoping she don't come back to me asking for nothing over 5 bucks! Period.

If she helped you in the past, just so that you will help her later, then she really wasn't doing you a favor.

If she really needed money that bad she should have just asked instead of prying into your biz asking about your taxes and stuff. It sounds funny acting. Don't lend out more than you can afford to be without in the event she don't pay you back.

S4R - Who said I was gonna give her the money????? That's part of the problem. I am blown that she even thought to come ask me. I don't know how much she needs/needed but I ain't the one. I am not a bank!
