Last night during my speech class Prof. Diva tells us that she is reminding us of the mandatory attendance of a speech competition tomorrow. As the entire class scrounged up our faces and gave her various verbal responses that all meant "what? You never told us it was mandatory," she starts standing her ground. My class and I go back and forth with the teacher and the teacher shuts the conversation down and says "I am not crazy, I KNOW I didn't tell 3 classes this was mandatory and not tell you. I said it, you all were just not paying attention." We tried to get a word in but she shut her ears off and told the next person it was there turn to give their speech.
It's funny how it is easier for her to think that the ENTIRE class wasn't paying attention to her talking about a required assignment, than to believe that she never got around to telling us. If at least 1 or 2 people heard her say it, I would have blamed it on me not listening. But NO ONE heard her! NO ONE! She won't even consider the possibility that she never said it! So I will be attending a speech competition tonight. :-(
Other than that, I have started Pooka on a learning program. My girl Hair sent me this website that her kindergarten daughter uses to help her understand somethings. It's a really cute site with animations and music. Last night was the second night doing "homework" with her. She really enjoys it, which I am ecstatic about. I think it has mostly to do with the fact that it is on the computer and it gives her permission to use mommy's laptop. LOL. But she is picking the stuff up well thus far. I emailed the site to Baby Daddy so hopefully when she goes back to DC he will continue to help her learn the needed skills for kindergarten this year. When he comes down this weekend I am going to show him just how much Pooka likes the website so that will hopefully encourage him to stay on the ball with it!
Just think, this time next year, Pooka will be actually reading books to me instead of looking at the pictures and making a story up! I can't wait!

I know that burns you up. Some folks just can't stand to be wrong.
I had a preofessor like that in
college...He was a real a**hole!
It's a great thing when a kid learns to read. I still remember the first book my daughter read to me. It was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I think she memorized most of it, but I was soooo happy!
Don't you hate a mutha-f that will not admit that they are wrong?!?!?!? I can't stand that. No body is right all the damn time, just suck it up! Gosh that is nerve wrecking.
