Ok here's the deal. My administrator just called me and asked me if I was gonna apply for Mainhaters job! WTH????
Apparently my coworker who applied and Will didn't get it, so they reopened the position. The deadline to turn in the applications is today @ 5.
I don't want the position because it's the exact same pay, all that would change is my title.
I don't want her office, yeah it has a window, but her office SUCKS!
But, the big dog called me! Which translates to, we want to give the position to you but we can't if you don't apply for it! I basically told her that I didn't apply for it because it was the same money and that by my schedule being sometimesy I wouldn't be here on a constant basis. Her reply...."well that is okay, that's why I asked you for your schedule. I think we can make it work." I am happy that that was the reason she wanted my schedule! But I don't want the extra work!
Then again, if I take the title, one of the temps can get on perm position and take my position. That would be the smart thing to do. I'd be helping someone else out. They can't apply for Mainhaters position because of the title, but they would be able to apply for mine.
I don't know what to do. What do you think? I need different prospective and if I was gonna apply I have to get the application to HR downtown today preferably during lunch.

Depending on how the work load will affect your school work...If it has no negative affects...I say go for it. Advancement is a good thing, and you aren't stepping on any toes in the process...she called you!
Mainhater and I did the same work. The only extra thing was that she was a liason with the other states. She also, was the rule maker or breaker, if she said we are doing xyz then that was the rule! I hated that cuz her mind would change with the wind and none of the higher level staff would say nothing! I have blogged about Mainhater plenty of times! LOL
I hear what your saying about the toe stepping. The main reason I would take the title is so one of the temps could bump up and get some benefits they don't have right now.
I am not *itchy enough to be Mainhater.....LOL

definitely check to see if the additional work load will interfere adversely with your schoolwork. you also gotta consider if it means more committment of time which would mean less 'pooka' time.
i'd definitely consider it, though. even if it isn't more money, the position itself could eventually lead to more money because of the additional responsibility.
i think you in mainhater's position would be a good thing. you'd bring a calmer head to the position and your strong leadership would be appreciated.

I did go downtown and turn my application in. The next step is the interview. I can't stand interviews, even in this type of circumstance.
These past couple of weeks I been so worried about them tracking me and losing my job, that I never once considered them looking at me for a title change. I just knew they were gonna call a meeting on me! I have to laugh at myself!
Glad you applied. I think it will be a good thing for you career wise because a change in title and responsibilty while at the same company indicates growth. that is always good for the resume.
I’m so sorry that I did not get a chance to offer my opinion before your deadline, but I certainly hope that you applied. You always have the option of not accepting the position, but if the opportunity passes there is nothing you can do about it.
Are you sure they won’t give you at least small raise for getting the new position? I agree w/Nikki in that the position could lead to more money in the future.
why not? i don't understand why you wouldn't. its probably positioning you for future promotions, right?... ok glad you applied. just read that. just relax for the interview. they asked you b/c you're qualified and they trust your ability.
