Yesterday and today are the perfect sleep days, and I am at work! UGH! The weekend was decent. Friday and Saturday Pooka and I hung out with my girl Ladykat and her family. We watched Calendar girls, which was actually a pretty cute movie that made you chuckle. We also watched Brokeback Mountain which was a whole lot more than I expected. People keep calling it the gay cowboy movie, but it's waaaaay more than that. It's a well directed love story. Big ups to Ang Lee! I think people who define it as a gay cowboy movie, hasn't seen it.
Other than that I went grocery shopping. I had the taste for a real meal. It stated by me wanting some of my grandmothers dressing, not that stove top stuff. So I got all the ingredients for my meal and got to work. One thing I learned by my grandmother last night was that real cooks don't used measurements. Just looks and taste. When I called her to ask how much of this and that to use she never gave a measurement or approximation. Just "add this till it looks like this" or "add that till it taste right" the same thing happened when I spoke to my aunt about her 'tata salad! LOL I have witnessed these woman throw down in the kitchen many a days so all I had to go on was my memory of what they did and how they did it. I must say, I did a darn good job! The only thing that I forgot to buy and use was sage for my dressing, but that will be fixed today with the extra that I didn't put in my bird!
Yesterday's dinner was a small chicken with stuffing in it, collard greens that came out sooooooooooo yummy...I really believe they are the best collards I have ever cooked *side note, cured meat is now $2.70!!!! daggone gas is making EVERYTHING go up!*, mac and cheese, tata salad, and green bean casserole. The only thing on the dinner menu that wasn't made from scratch was our Jello pudding for dessert. I wanted to do a peach cobbler, but I never made one before. Imma try it out this weekend tho'! I was so proud of myself! Dinner didn't come out exactly like grandma and them, but it was very close! I wanted to invite folks over to eat, but my bird was really small. LOL
In other news, I got the job and I don't think I can keep my hole in the wall. I am just wondering when they are gonna have me move...I really don't want to move on the other side of the building. They think I am nuts for not wanting a window. Maybe I am! I don't know how long I can go without telling no one I work with that I officially got the job. Well as soon as I typed that my coworker bused in my office talking about how I must have got the job cuz my current job is posted already! LOL, them folk aren't wasting no time! Guess they put the secret out for me! Got my job out there before I even take my new title! All I can do is laugh!
