1 graduation down, too many mo' 2 go!

This morning started like any other morning. But when I got to Pooka's daycare the daily scene changed....

"Don't forget 7:15!" Says Pooka's morning teacher.

What about 7:15?" I replied with an Oh lawd what did I forget look.

"Graduation tonight"

"For real?"

The laughter in response told me she wasn't joking. I mean there is only a big ole dry erase board in the lobby that has spoken about graduation since forever, but Pooka's momma didn't take the time to read it!!!! So great, my child is having her first graduation and if her teacher didn't say anything she prolly would have missed it!

So I go through the day figuring out what she is gonna wear, how I will do her hair, all that good stuff. All I have to say is thank God I brought her a dress last week at walmart so she'd roll up so fresh and so clean clean (outkast) I go to class, fail a pop quiz the day after Dr. Crucial tells me I am number 1, go back to work, do my thing, get off work, pick Pooka up, get her fed, showered, lotioned up with mommys smell good lotion, hair curled in spirals, dressed, and of course refreshed myself all in an hour *go me go me go me*. The daycare is 3 miles from my place so everything was all good!

We get to the center and things started on time and was so different from the graduations that her previous daycare in the hood had. *I have a post about last years somewhere in my blog if you wanna look, I am too lazy myself so if you don't it's all gravy* Things went on like a normal graduation, then we got to the part where Pooka's teacher asked each graduate what they wanted to be when they grew up. Being that Pooka's momma never asked Pooka that question b4, I had no knowledge of what her answer would be. There are 7 females in her class and since Pooka's last name is late in the alphabet she was the next to last girl. The girls ahead of Pooka said that they wanted to be princesses or ballerinas. So when it got to my child I expected her to follow suit and say either princess or ballerina........

"When I grow up, I want to be a doctor"

Being that I was already standing up taking pictures like Pooka was a model or something with a really cool disposable camera deal that I got *still could use a digital in about ehhhh 5 days* I stopped taking pictures and had a black momma moment. I was popping my collar and raising the roof going "oh yeah oh yeah" over and over again. That's my baby! The graduation ended and a father came up to me and told me that every morning Pooka would be the first one to tell him good morning and how well mannered she was. *insert momma moment number 2, this one was a more sappy awwwwwww type moment*. He said he felt bad that he didn't know her name. I told him not to worry cuz I didn't know the kids names either! Well except for her "boyfriends" which I learned all but one are kindergarten boys! Loving the older men already! LOL I think she may have a switch of men soon cuz during refreshments she kept going to the other side of the room with this *first grader* boy and his family. After the second time I got up and got her. I made jokes about how this little boy must be her friend and the parents told me that they are always playing when they come pick their kids up. I guess they always get to the daycare b4 me cuz I never seen this particular little boy!

I wonder what size chastity belt I should buy her? hmmmmmm

Anyways, as soon as I got home I had to call Babydaddy and tell him about what his child plans to do with her life! LOL He had is black daddy moment and that was that!

So now I got Pre K graduation out the way...there's elementary, middle, high, and at least 2 or 3 colleges to go before Dr. Pooka hit's the streets!

Contributions to the Pooka's college tuition fund started the day I became aware of her existence and it's never too late to donate! LOL

Big Congrats to Pooka and her big aspirations. I think you're allowed to be loud when your kid does something special, it's in the black mommas handbook.

It has to be in the book! LOL!

I wasn't ghetto loud with mine tho',I got some class about me :-)

I am going to try and get one of the parents that took video footage of the graduation to burn me a copy cuz if my baby does turn out to be a doctor and I am still alive to see it, I simply HAVE to show her what she said at four! I would just have to!

Glad you were reminded about the graduation, otherwise you would've missed out on a couple of black momma moments.

So did Pooka get any graduation presents?

Actually she did get some school supplies and a candy bag Freaky. We both will be bouncing off the walls this weekend.

Sar, my savings plan for Pooka really did start soon after I found out I was pregnant. It's one account that I will NEVER ever ever ever touch.

And how do you buy children again? I have got to have a few if they make you feel this proud. I can tell that you and your daughter really love each other.

I hate graduations...they are so long...and why they always got a boring speaker? Congrats though!

Dude, we do! When you "buy" your kids you'll love them just as much!
