The hair journey begins....

I don't remember the last relaxer I had, but I know today starts my loc journey. I know I don't have to loc to be natural, but I have been debating locs for the past few years. I think I am ready. I did not chop all my hair off. I decided to go with the slow bit by bit cut of the 2 stranded braid. After I washed and conditioned my hair I got to twisting. I am surprised that my fingers are still willing to function right now cuz they are in pain! I didn't go into work today because of my finger/arm condition, but it's all good.

This look for me is different but cute! When I was done I went to the bathroom to see the finished product and I was pleasantly surprised. Why didn't I do this to my hair before deciding to loc? I think I will curl the ends for work. My coworkers won't know how to take this. This is not what they are used to...it's not what I am used to! LOL I am soooo excited.

I have been reading and reading and reading about what to do, not to do, what to use, not to use, what method worked for Sally, Sue, John, and Jackie and after all that reading I concluded that everyone is different and you gotta go through a trail and error period to learn what your real hair likes.

That is another thing I know I will have a hard time getting used to. Locing is letting your hair do what it do. I give up control for the most part. I know that is gonna be an issue. I do know that I will be buying more scarfs next weekend! My hair will be going through some phunky phases through the next couple of years....*sigh* years means patience *double sigh*. I just wish I would have started locing when I first became interested. That way today I would have some beautiful mature locs! LOL Oh well.

I love my twists and I will learn to love my natural hair just as I have grown to love my chemically altered hair...

*sidebar* I just lost 15 pounds dancing to some rap song that I assume is called "Jiggle it", if you know the artist let me know. The song is not all that new cuz I have been hearing bit's and pieces of it for a while now but I want to at least try to download it now that I have heard the whole thing. Shoot, I had all my jiggly goodness WIDE OPEN a moment ago...in the privacy of my home! LOL

Jamiel - yeah the local station was playing a nice booty shaking mix last night and it was part of it. This natural thing is exciting, I don't believe I am actually doing it vs. debating it!

congrats on starting your locing (and natural) journey. i stopped perming about 3 and a half hours ago, and have been contemplating locing, but am not quite ready. good luck!

as for the site meter, if you'd like to have one, sitemeter.com is a good source. it'll even place it into your blog's template after giving them your url. very user friendly...
