Here we go again...

Big Chips, one of my coworkers who has this big facade going has done it again. She asked me for money. This time she didn't give me an amount because I told her that I wasn't able to do it before she got a chance. She wanted me to pay her car payment this month so I know it had to be at LEAST 3oo bucks she was asking me for!

As soon as she came in my office and closed the door behind her I knew what was about to come out her mouth. The very first thing she asked was if my taxes came back. I told her yes and that I still didn't have any money to lend due to my Jamaica trip coming up. This was SUPPOSED to be the part were she said "oh okay, never mind then" or something like that and left. Then she asked me when I was going, I am guessing to see if she could say that she'd pay me back b4 then, and I told her April but the deposit was due soon. Then she told me that she had helped her daughter pay on a high gas or light bill when she got paid, now she is running short on her car payment and her tax money don't come in till next week. This would put her past her 30 day mark and she didn't want to get flagged. Well ummmmm, who's fault is that??? I mean if my mom and them was about to be left in the dark yes I would help. Then I'd have to take the hit from the car people esp. when I know I would only be a week or so late in paying them!

So I asked her about doing a salary advance loan. Yes I know they are evil but with our credit union the interest rates are outstanding so if your in a bind it worth doing. I mean even the interest goes back to you so technically there is no interest! Apparently she's done used them up or something cuz she was saying something about an appeal. WTF??? I didn't even ask. LOL All I could say was that I was sorry I couldn't help her over and over as her sob story continued. I felt bad for lying to her cuz I do have the money, it's spent money, but I don't have to have it right at this very moment. I just don't want to take on her mans/fam/close friends job of assisting in a time of great financial need. I mean she is a nice person and I like her but not enough to pay her car note. Nope! Not close!

Again, she supposed to have this big ballin' boyfriend so why is she asking folks or just me about making her car payment? Where is your man? Where is all this fam you talk about? Why can't she call the car loan peeps up and work something out. Many companies will let you slide a time or 2 or even give you an extension without penalty if you let them know whats going on and assure them they will get some money on the day you say. The chance is even greater if you've been a loyal on time customer from jump.

I swear I wish I never helped her get her contacts years ago! It's been around a year since she has asked me for real money. I remember her asking me about my taxes last year and it pissing me off. I can't remember what she wanted me to do or how much she wanted. I guess I need to check my archives cuz I know I blogged about it... Okay I blogged about it Feb. 7th 2006 and she didn't outright ask me for money, but she did ask me about my taxes and said she was gonna ask me for a favor (read: big mula).

Ugh!

She had the nerve to ask you to make a car payment on a car that you do not drive? WTH?

Luvin, it's not the first time she's asked me to do something pricey and I don't expect it to be the last. There is another coworker who she has hit up for a 4 digit figure so I can't complain too too much! I just don't understand where she gets the idea we got it like that. I mean the person she hit up for the grand plus does things like buys lunch for the entire office on occasion but dang!

Pam, she has balls. Part of me feels bad because if she is asking coworkers to help handle her biz she may be at the end of her line and possibly reaching desperation.

Some people just don't have any shame. Asking a coworker for money, not lunch money but car note money.

And don't feel bad about lying to her. Paying HER car note is not your responsiblity.

Who the hell does she think she is hitting you up for money like that? I swear there's some greedy, ignorant, and out of pocket people chicks out there. That's not a good look. Um Ladynay, you got your tax money already? Can you make my car note for me? I'll pay you back on the 32nd.

You shouldn't feel bad, she should. In fact she doesn't even deserve or need any explanation other than I can't do it. If she still bothers you about it then take it to the boss and be done with her.

Oh, so what's up on that car note?

DNT, this is seemingly a routine thing. I don't know if our prayers will help her manage her money better so she won't be drastically short like she has been. :-(

Southern, I would have been cool if she asked for 5-10 bucks for lunch or even 20-30 bucks cuz she riding on fumes and needed to get by till next week...but covering a car note is just too much. That's some ask the fam, ask the man, ask my close girlfriend(s) type stuff!

Freaky, I didn't need to explain anything, your right, but w/out it she would have kept on even more w/her sob story. The sooner she realized I really didn't have it to give the sooner she stopped. I doubt if she'll make the same request again. It's been over a year since the last time.

I'll pay your note if you pay my rent! ROFL!!!!!
