Weekend

Friday, got off work, got the kid, got my concert clothes, got on the hwy. Traffic flowed till I got to a 4 lane bridge that they shortened to 2. This caused me to miss my turn and get lost in DC. I drove and drove thinking that I'd hit something familiar and I finally gave up. When ever I leave NC my cell phone acts up so it took me a few calls to actually call my peeps and get me where I needed to be. I was wayyyyyyyyyy cross town. When my grandmother told me where I was I was like WHOA for real?!?! Anyways, there was 2 things that struck me the wrong way: I was in S.E. DC around 11pm and there were white families strolling down the street like they were not in S.E.! They are really taking the chocolate out of chocolate city! :-( Then when it was time for the 2 main urban stations to play some go go music I get all hyped thinking I am going to get that good ole DC feeling and the music was GARBAGE! What is up with the new go go music????? It really does sound like someone beating on buckets and yelling incomprehensible things. I love me some go go music but what I heard on both stations hurt my feelings! :-( I guess Chuck Brown is going to have to pull a Nas and do a Go Go is dead album. Speaking of, my birthday is next month and I would love a copy of Chucks new album. :-)

Saturday I forced myself to stay in bed as long as possible. Pooka was up under her grandma so I had no reason to be up. I lounged around till it was time to get ready for the concert. Pulling out the driveway my aunt and I saw some people we used to hang with in the neighborhood growing up. It was nice seeing them and catching up. They couldn't believe I had a baby. LOL We get to Constitution Hall and I am reminded that I need to work harder on my portion control. Those seats are not plus size friendly, then add the fact that my aunt is plus sized and so was the ladies on the other side of me....lord have mercy. Fortunately for the NE portion of the show I was up dancing so I didn't suffer long, lol! There were 2 sold out shows. One at 7 and one at 11. I went to the 7pm show. They had a very funny comic open up and then K-Ci and Jo Jo came on. I got ONE word for them....REHAB!!!! Seriously! K-Ci put on a show, he was very entertaining...like watching a crackhead entertaining. He was just busy! He even kissed some chick on the mouth! EWWWWWWWWWW I would have been pissed! He took his shirt off and did a tupac impression during that "how does it feel" song they did years ago. I wish he kept the shirt on. That darn Jo Jo placed a towel over his head and was singing to a speaker through the towel!!! WTH! Oh, and Jo Jo's voice has been shot to hell! NE was good. Since they had another show at 11 their performance was too short for my liking and they didn't let Johnny sing in his own home town. Other than that their portion of the show was great!

Southern, Ralph still got it. He is rocking a bald head that looks reallllllllly nice on him and he has been doing his crunches everyday cuz when he unbuttoned that shirt......WHOA! He needs to get K-Ci hip to what ever he is doing. They are the same size frame wise but look totally different. K-Ci is just skinny. EWWWW

Sunday was Atlantic City. We got there early to heat up the breakfast sandwiches Grand Diva's job was giving out for Fathers Day. The bus came, we loaded up and off we went. The bus driver had the gospel music playing while everyone was eating. It was real chill. Then at about 10:30am the music changed to real old skool rhythm and blues they passed out beer...then a huge bottle of Tangueray (sp) and oj! I was perplexed cuz it wasn't even lunch time and the pulling out the liquor! We finally get to AC and we get these voucher things worth 18 bucks. I cash mine in and played the penny and nickel games. I had no idea what was doing, I was just pressing buttons. When you only betting pennies and nickels you can do that! LOL I did take a friends advice and play the nickel Wheel of Fortune. I didn't strike big. After the 5 bucks was spent up I was done gambling. I took my 13 remaining bucks and went to Phillips seafood restaurant. Delish! I spent the very little personal money I had on souvenirs for me and Pooka. From what I heard AC redid their mall and it looks really nice. We saw this water fountain show that was really nice and they had something like a small indoor beach set up that overlooked the real beach. That was cool cuz it was too hot to be out on the real beach! LOL That may become my cheap but not cheap vacation spot.

While waiting to load the bus to go home I saw a few interesting people. One guy I saw was big and tall in every since of the word. When I say dude was about 7 feet tall I am not playing, he was large in ht. and wt. I won't front, he scared me. That mean mugg he had on his face while walking up and down the aisle didn't help it either. Then there was this dude who must have got a hold of some tainted weed. He was walking in a zig zag pattern with lit blunt in his hand. I don't know where his mind was but it wasn't on earth! He found a vacant seat and started rocking his body like he was listening to his favorite song. My aunt and I was looking trying to find out where the lit blunt was. I guess he killed it or it went out on it's own cuz even after dude feel asleep nothing caught fire.

Our bus pulls up, we load, all the folks are LOADED from all the free drinks the casino gives you (I only had one) and they were in party mode. Mind you Grand divas coworkers and clients are mostly 60+ years old, but the jokers were acting like they were 18! Dropping down low sweeping the floor with it and popping with their one leg up (I am soooo serious). I couldn't believe it! I know for sure they spent Monday in the bed with their Ben Gay! The more the ladies partied the louder and louder the music became. I hated to be the old fart and suggest that the driver turn the music down a bit AGAIN so I laid there trying to force sleep upon myself with my head literally booming for several hours. By time I got off the bus my head was ringing. Very soon after getting home I was dead sleep.

Monday I got up, ate breakfast and got back on the road. The house is so quiet without Pooka there. She called me last night and told me she missed me. AWWWWWW I miss her too. She sounds so different on the phone. I also noticed that she has started to pick up a small accent. 3 whole weeks without my kid....what am I gonna do? LOL What's really funny is that I am so trained and embedded in my daily routine that I drove to summer camp this morning. I just has to laugh at myself. I am on freaking auto pilot.

I didn't get the job I applied for. The online thing said it could take 2 to 3 weeks before I heard anything. It didn't take them that long to say I didn't get it. The email pretty much said that since they receive so many apps for their positions that even for the non clinical positions they take preference to those with medical field experience. *sigh* I need to find me a way to get my foot in the door before doing my internship for school. Well I want, not need.
