999! *w/edit*

One more to 1,000! Sweet!

Well what has been going on en mi vida? Did I say that right? Do I care? LOL!

I started acute care in a local hospital on Tuesday and after 4 days it feels like I have been working there for months! So far I've learned that I'm pretty sure I don't want to be a pediatric PT because working one day in the NICU broke my heart and for the first 1/2 hour I was scared to touch any of the premies or sick babies.

I've dealt with some interesting characters and patients, had all sorts of body fluids on me, and had someone code on me Friday. He came back 4 mins later and as far as I know he is still with us. I'll find out tomorrow. I am almost certain that before my 2 months is over I will witness someone cross over. Most definitely will happen by the end of my third clinical rotation at a skilled nursing facility.

I was talking to Snookums earlier and described to him that everyday so far has been like an episode of ER, except that day I spent in the NICU. My clinical instructor promised me that this past week was not a typical week. Tomorrow we start week 2 *deep inhale and exhale* All in all. I like it better than outpatient work thus far.

I have been out of work for a week and have been applying EVERYWHERE! I looked on a website and saw a posting by a woman with a disability that needs weekend help. She was looking for someone with experience, knew how to transfer, and had a vehicle, among other little things. I fit what she was looking for to a tee so I shot her an email telling her I was a PT student and pretty much fit the description. At the end I mentioned Pooka and if I was considered for the job my only request is that I'd be able to bring her with me. She emailed me back saying cool and that she wanted to meet me to interview Monday. She called me today and gave me the details. I'm going to ride by there after work tomorrow and see if we are a good fit. I hope so. I feel so odd not working (for compensation).

I wonder what I will encounter tomorrow. I have no idea what impairments she has or what her diagnosis is. From the way things are described I am pretty sure she either doesn't have legs or use of them. Her speech is very slow and incomprehensible at times and I'm thinking it will be easier to understand her face to face. She sounds young, but the location is in a complex for the elderly. Again, I wonder what she looks like and what her current condition is. Hopefully this is a great match. This set up is wayyyyyyyy better than the group home gig. With the group home the hours are set, you clock in, you clock out. With one on one it's more flexible and you are only responsible for the care of one person. Plus I can bring Pooka! Only drawback is the payment portion which hopefully won't be an issue if we click tomorrow. We shall see.

So I meet the author of the ad I responded to. She is my age and has Freidreich's Ataxia which is sort of like Muscular Dystrophy. I met the girls sister, who is like the person that takes care of the hiring/firing etc and one of her evening aides. The interview was really laid back. The only thing I had to do was show them I could transfer her from her manual chair to her electric and back! I could do that with my eyes closed and actually ended up showing her current evening aide a better way to do it that would save her back :-) They loved me and the conversation quickly turned to what I will be doing, when I need to come observe how she likes things done, where I can park, what my hours are going to be like, where Pooka could go if she got bored in the apt...basically talking like I had the job already so even though my call regarding the final decision will come on Friday I am sure I landed the job. When I walked out with the sister, the sister told me that I pretty much had the job if I wanted it. I won't put all my eggs in a basket till I get the confirmation call from the lady that needs the aide on Friday. It doesn't pay a whole lot, but it's flexible, related to my career, and I can bring my child! Can't ask for much better than that. I am grateful.

Went to see Cirque du Soleil - Algeria yesterday. LOVED IT! I want to see the other shows more than ever now!

This is my birthday month so during each of the 5 full weekends I will be doing something to celebrate. First weekend was a wine tasting, second weekend was Cirque du Soleil, next weekend I am having a small get together for a game night, the weekend after that I would love to go to the beach and look out into the water and don't know about the last weekend of the month just yet.

Month-long bday celebrations are AWESOME!!! :) I love finding out what I DON'T want to do almost as much as what I do want to do.

If you wanted body fluids on you all you had to do was ask. I choose the first one and then you can choose whatever you want. ;o) However in the context you mentioned it, eww, eww, ewwwwww!!!

If Cirque du Soleil ever does an x-rated S&M show I want tickets. Glad you enjoyed it.

I'd be afraid to touch premies or sick babies too so I don't blame you one bit.

One more til 1000? Sorry to tell you this but the World Blogging Federation has disqualified 20 of your posts. So I win, I win, I win. Well, I would. :oP LOL
