I spoke it up....

Since I requested potty training suggestions for a child that has regressed, the daycare assistant director had a word with me when I went to pick Pooka up. See, when she started having more accidents, my mother brought Pooka a whole bunch of Pull-ups and that's what she went back to wearing. When I picked her up to bring her home, I brought back 6 unopened packs of pulls ups also. So I have been having her in them so she can use them up. I know now that that may have not been the best idea. I go in the daycare and the asst. director pulls me to the side and asked me if Pooka has been wearing Pull ups. I told her yeah, and she asked me if Pooka was having diarrhea or something of that nature. We basically ended up having a talk about Pooka's potty training. I tried to explain that my child regressed back to having solid accidents and she gave me this look like she never heard of that before. "Pooka is a big girl, she shouldn't be wearing Pull ups." She went on to explain how in their 2 year old class once they get the hang of it and they switch to underwear, they don't switch back because the kids think that its okay to use the bathroom in the Pull ups. I could see her point and maybe that's part of the potty training issues I have been having lately. I just didn't like that she made me feel like a bad parent for having a four year old that still had restroom issues and still using Pullups!

I am implementing a lot of the suggestions I received yesterday (thanks everyone) so I hope it makes life easier. I am working hard on the acting a fool when she gets it right thing. I feel so silly, but Pooka seems to get a kick out of it. She has on some Care Bear panties that I let her personally pick out her panty drawer and made up a song and dance about dry panties. I really hope this works! LOL

I dropped her off at daycare this morning and spoke with her morning teacher and when I explained what the deal was she gave me the same look the asst. director gave me yesterday! It was that "she regressed? children don't do that!" look. It's like they don't believe me! This morning I went online and looked some things up and I know that I am not alone. There are actual forums where parents talk about the problems they have in the potty training department. There were more than a few parents of 4 year olds that aren't well on there way or have mastered it then went back. Reading some of the questions and concerns some parents had made me feel better. Don't make me feel as if my child is the only one who don't have it right yet when she isn't! I know she should have her groove back at least before school starts. I am doing the best I can!

Outside of that, there is a Chemistry final study session today hosted by the professor. It's optional but I am going. It's at the same time class would have been it school wasn't out already.

Also, from this day forward, my girl Hair's (one of Pooka's Godmothers) name will be LadyKat on my blog. I don't talk about her often, but when I do from now on that's her name. She started a blog yesterday and I am soooooo excited! I haven't got the word if she minded me putting her site in the spotlight of my blog yet so yall can visit and say hello. So I will leave it alone for now. I really don't think she'd mind because I think she wants feedback, but like I said. I am not sure.

Lata.

Kids do things when they get ready, and not a minute before. We can try to push them along, but in the end, it hits us right in the face. She'll get it soon...

Luvin - I know she will. She did it before and she'll do it again.

Southern - 'Specially when the person DON'T HAVE A CHILD or hasn't worked with children! UGH! I am just like hush would you?

Fortunately Pooka was greedy so getting her off the bottle was easy. The sippy cup flowed more so she took it like a champ! The breast to bottle wasn't easy tho :-( I wish you luck in your potty training years.

I know that the people at the day care was giving you crazy looks and talking about kids don’t do that, but evidently they do because your child did. Believe it or not singing that ‘dry panties’ song might just help. Kids love that stuff!

Think that the Chemistry study session was a good idea. Sometimes you never know what kind of good tips and help you may get by going.

peace.

all u can do is the best u can with parenting. children move at their own pace. don't let any distracting looks from others distract u from how great u are.

peace love and respect.

no, you're not the only one. i wish those workers at the daycare facility had more compassion and empathy and less judgemental attitudes. that's not what you need right now.

i hope everything goes well with pooka. keep us posted.

Wow, sorry to hear that, I always heard girls were easier to train than boys...so I like to prove people wrong. My son was trained by his se`ond bday and it was hard and messy to say the least.

I know it may sound and be nasty, but you gotta let her just hang loose, either no panties, or panties. Pull ups will never work, unless you time their solids and liquids and make them sit on the toliet until something drops...

I had messy days with my son and we went through underwear like a mutha, but he got the drift of it after I made him keep the shit and piss on him in the underwear, for as long as I could bear the smell, with didn't last over 5 mins....*lol*

I made him stand in the corner, no toys, sit on the toilet, all as punishment. Cause bottom line he knew how to do it and when to do it, he just didn't want to, he was lazy and just wanted to go in his pants and have me clean it up.

But he stink like a grown man!!!

I hate when people try to make it seem like you are a bad parent and them be the same muthafuckas without kids....
