Hit and Run

Everyone sing along!

Tis' the season to kill Bambi
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Insurance companies feel just dandy
Fa la la la la, la la la la!

I swear this is one of the things about fall I don't like! All the dag on deers!

The day went on like regular. I go to class then go out to the boonies to get my car and drop off the van. All that goes down fine then for the first time in about 2 months I get behind the wheel of my working car. There I am traveling down the curvy road and I saw them eyes in the distance. I immediately slow down and just like I thought, a deer crossed the road. Knowing that they rarely travel alone I waited for the rest of the crew to pass. They all seemed to have made it across so I hit the accelerator and I be daggone if the straggler deer that was running behind the crew jumped out! I wasn't going all that fast but I don't think it made it. It was so dark on the road I couldn't tell if it was still in the road through my rearview. I could automatically tell it took out my drivers side high beam, I couldn't tell anything else. I kept driving.

I get home to verify that my high beam and parking light on my side are out but the low beam is in tact. How the deer managed to get everything but the light in the middle confuses me! LOL! Fortunately the front of my car has some old cosmetic damage from when Babydaddy wrecked it years ago so if the deer did anything new, I can't really tell yet. It just sucks that I just had light work done about a year or so ago. *sigh* Here we go again!

I am going to do some research tomorrow to see if I can swap out my lights on my own. I already know the parts to get it's just getting someone to show me or figuring out how to do it. My mechanic said that he may be able to drop my van off at the crib because he is going to be round my way this week. That would rock if he could because that will save me another trip out to him. If he does I may just ask him how to do it.

Okay, I am tired....nite

see? knowing how to fix your own shit comes in handy! You are really lucky though, those things can TOTAL a car and get up and walk away...

DNT, I don't hate the deer as long as they not leaping out in front of me! I am thankful that I got was a busted light.

Mel, you don't have to tell me about deers totaling cars! My fam loss a few too many cars that way! I think by time my car finally dies (which hopefully is no time soon) I will be able to take some certification classes! ROFL

Those deers are serious..one hit my moms Toyota tundra and TORE the front bumper up eww it was gross..glad you're ok.

Ladynay said...

You and me both Honey! According to insurance companies YOU always hit the DEER, never vice versa! Don't that suck? Ugh!

EWWWWWW she had remains on her truck? Guess that's another thing to be thankful for. No blood or guts on the car, just a few hairs.

i've never even see a deer up close, let alone hit one. i grew up in OK, but the only thing i've encountered on the road were cows, skunks, possums, and the occasional armadillo. i don't know what i'd do w/ myself if i hit a deer.

at any rate, i'm glad it only took the light.

Ladynay said...

Cows...on the road???? That's odd! I have never and never want to see a skunk outside of the zoo! LOL!Possums scare me, seriously. I have seen ONE armadillo when I was driving to Texas last summer. Me and Pooka was excited to see it! We don't have them here, not that I've ever seen anyways....

yeah, cows sometimes cross the road to graze. usually, they're fenced, but in the more rural areas they may not be, and so they can get a little errant.

possums are the devil! girl, i have a story to tell about possums, but it' probably freak you out. so, i'll refrain. ;-)

We have deer out here but so far I've never seen any crossing or in the street looking like the proverbial deer in the headlights. If Bambi damages my truck and doesn't die I will hit reverse, run her down, and see if anyone I knows wants the meat and will mount the head for me. I'd do the same if it was a stupid pedestrian too. You wouldn't believe the wall of children's heads I have mounted on the wall. No one hurts my baby and gets away with it.

BB, go ahead and tell your story. I can read about them but if I ever see one in public that's out and about in the wild I am gonna kirk the *bleep* out! LOL

FD, don't those heads stink afterwhile? LOL

be careful deers ain't no joke to play around with. leave ur light alone and let someone who knows what they are doing fix it.

Nah, besides the skulls most of the organics are fake but damn good reproductions.

Have you considered that the Devil's van caused the accident to happen because it was jealous you've been spending so much time in another vehicle? Hmmm.

Ladynay said...

J, if I let someone teach me how then I would know what I'm doing! LOL

FD, you used to be able to buy real human parts on ebay, but not anymore.

The van wouldn't do that since I sent it to get a deluxe spa treatment! LOL

ok, my grandmother will kill me for telling this story to a stranger, but oh well. she doesn't know how to use the Internet, let alone have any idea what a blog is. lol...

so, i lived w/ my grandparents my last 2 years of high school, and in my senior year, for some reason possums were running rampant in the neighborhood. it was strange because we live in the city, so i guess something was driving them to the city. anyway, my grandparents' house is very old and kinda big, and has little spots where critters can make their way in. well, the possums were looking for a warm place, and liked our house! we had to put out traps and everything. one night my grandmother made us a pot of spaghetti for dinner. i went upstairs, and she was hollering. so, i went back downstairs and she told me a possum had been on top of the stove eating the meat out of the pot! so, from that moment on, we ate dinner REALLY early (you know possums prefer to come out at night). when i say early, i mean i would come home from school at like 4 pm and dinner would be ready! and ALL food was put away immediately. night didn't fall w/ any food left out.

oh, and there was the time my grandmother was so pissed off about the situation that she beat a possum to death with a broom stick! i didn't see it happen, but heard all about it the next day.

good times... good times... LOL

lol! that's why we see them so much.. cause all they do is cut down trees for new homes..

and btw, im in bmore county.. that's why i see the deer all year round! lol

BB......oh.....my......goodness! If you could see the bumps on my arm! Them jokers were in her HOUSE! Ugh! I don't know how you slept in that place! Uze a good one!

Oh my, just oh my!

I asked for you to tell it tho' so I won't say nothing else! LOL

TTD, I am soooo sorry that bambi's crew likes your neighborhood! I would go crazy having to be on the look out all year round!

oh, it was ok because they didn't come upstairs (no food). one day one did come upstairs and my grandmother "forgot" to tell me about it. i would scream every time i saw one. she knew if i knew 1 had come upstairs, i would act a fool.

yeah, i told you it would freak you out... that happened like 6 years ago, and i'm still traumatized.

Ladynay said...

Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirl I don't know how you slept at night! Once again, you are a good one! LOL

Traumatized isn't the word!!!!
