All my relaxed hair got put in the trash last night. Once the time came for me to start I decided to cut my hair by feel vs. sight. See you can see and feel where your natural hair ends and your the relaxed begins. I couldn't bring myself to take down any of my babies, so I just cut there and left it alone. As I placed twisted strand after twisted strand on the table my feelings didn't feel too bad. It felt like I had braids and I was cutting my braid length so I could take them out easier. I looked at the hair as if it wasn't my own, but the packs of 1B I brought several weeks earlier. I cut what I thought was the last strand and walked to the bathroom to see what I've done.....
*gasp* "I can sooooooooo rock this!" as a smile eased it's way onto my face. I be daggone if the end result was something I could live with! LOL I didn't look as manly as I swore I would, even tho' I felt the need to break out the lipstick. HEY, stop looking at the monitor like that! I do own a stick of lipstick! So what it's like 4 years old and still looks like I just opened it yesterday, I do own a stick! LOL
So I tinted my lips and wrapped a scarf around my head headband style and was just tickled pink. I know I spent a good 5 minutes in the mirror posing and laughing at myself. LOL! When I finished looking at myself, I cleaned up the little mess I made and went down for the night. I literally went to bed with a smile on my face and had that good feeling you get after you do the right thing. To me, that is like my confirmation that I made the right choice. I am going to do maintenance on it this weekend and see what that looks like. I got the fuzz going on right now, but that's kinda cute IMO. I am not going to break the style out to my coworkers till the New Year and my fam won't see it till Christmas. THIS IS GREAT!
There was something else I wanted to blog about but I can't recall what, so guess it ends here!
Lata!

i'm so glad it turned out aiight! i knew it would!
now get ready to do some serious battling with your hair. i wasn't patient enough for mine, which is why i ended up with locs.
you're getting locs right? how long before you start them?
I am sooooo glad it came out better than I thought it would! I started the lock process in the first part of July. I started with the 2 strand twist and when the new growth came I finger rolled it. A pretty good portion of my head has started locing already (YAY!)
Part of my problem was I had part loced and/or natural hair and part relaxed twists which wasn't cute nor working for me anymore. Now that I cut the twist out I am all one grade of hair and I like it!
I always applaud anyone who has the courage to CHOP IT OFF! I am an assimiliated PUNK. I don't even need relaxer in my hair but I have it anyway - WHIP ME CAUSE MY NAME IS QUEENIE! (Can't be Kizzy cause she had rougher hair, lol).
We don't get to see any picture?!
**Answered You round the way**
My aunt has a friend like you. She has that hair that always looks wet. It's naturally jet black and curly, yet she relaxes it to make it straight. We are never satisfied sometimes I tell yah! LOL
im glad ur happy with it.. i dont think i woulda been brave enough to cut my own hair.. i get teary-eyed when i go to the salon! lol
what did pooka say? was she shocked?
TTD, I thought I was going to be emotional over it but I wasn't. It was like I wasn't cutting my own hair! LOL
Pooka didn't have a reaction which was kinda spooky. She didn't physically react or say a word about my hair, just kept on bout her business. I assume it's because when I did rolled my twists I would pin them to my head making my hair appear short. She's seen me like that so I guess that's why I didn't get nothing from her! LOL I dunno!
i'm glad it turned out well!
lol @ the 4 year old tube of lipstick. i wear lipstick or gloss nearly every day. i feel naked without it!
BB, I wear gloss everyday, but that's about it. I have very dry skin so if I don't gloss up I'd look a mess! LOL
Southern, I'm working on that. LOL I don't have a digital camera or a regular camera. I have been doing the disposable thing for the longest time! :-(
*coughcough-christmasisaroundthecorner-cough cough*
I'm not saying that to you...just some readers that may be able to assist a sista! *cheese*
Congrats i knew you could do it. You have just joined the Natural Diva Club now you make sure you wear you lip gloss and a little eyeliner and Rock It. That will compliment that style so much. I have pretty much experienced most of them hair styles and with those little assecories, you will have it going on.
Ummm who said anything about eyeliner???? LOL I am not really not all that big on makeup. I was serious about having that lipstick for years....
Now I can do little trendy accessories :-)
WOOOOHOOO.
Glad it turned out good
You go girl LOL
Way to go. I bet it looks hot.
eyeliner is your best friend it will make your eyes pop. I am not big on makeup either but all I need is my eyeliner, lipgloss, and eyelash curlers or mascara. Either or. You will love the way you look trust me. Just try it and let me know how you like it.
Have you found the attitude to go with your new look? It's not a bad attitude it's just a confident attitude. One that encourages you to accomplish all goals and get thru all road blocks that get in your way.
Thank you Honey, thank you! LOL
DNT, I wouldn't say hot, but a whole lot better than I was thinking :-)
J, I tried to do the makeup thing in the past and it's just not me. I'll stick with gloss till I am ready for something else. Still working on the attitude. lol
I'll just smile and nod because I have NO idea what you're talking about, but I'm glad you like it! I hate mine :-(
:-)
*nod*
girl you are a brave soul! But I applaud you in stepping out on faith and am so happy it came out alright!
