I don't understand...

I went to the hospital yesterday to do my normal thing and I found out that there was a THIRD person being interviewed for the aide position.

What I don't understand is why if the head person asks me if I want the job TWICE in front of people why they are even interviewing anyone else? I know my downfall is my availability in July but damn. I am not sure how HR works but I am guessing you have to interview more than one person for a job to make it "fair" I guess. Not really sure how that works. But this 3rd person is external! I be damned if I lose this opportunity to someone who doesn't even work in the hospital!

According to the current aide, the head person said in the staff meeting that it is me, another internal person (which must actually work in another dept in the hospital cuz nobody at the clinic knew them and they know the pt community), and this external person up for the position. This is BS! Two of the therapists who are on the hiring committee was shocked they had another interview to give! The external person has their interview on Wednesday, so that means I won't be getting notice until the later part of next week, if then.

I am losing my confidence and security in this position and I don't like it. Regardless if I get this position or not, I have to start an internship in August to graduate, so leaving my current job will happen very soon. Plans B,C, and D are in place so I don't have to worry too much, but damn! I will not be a happy camper if the hospital picks someone else! I mean I could have been already working at the other clinic, but I didn't jump on it because I liked the hospital better.

*sigh* I don't understand and I don't know how I feel about all this....

I'm no HR guru but I think it just may be a formality in the process. Then again....what do I know? *shrugs shoulders*

At least you've got your ish together having your plans in place though.

Good luck!

I hope so Argal...I sure hope so. We had an situation here at my job where a coworker left and he had a temp working with him and basically worked the job with him. So naturally when he left the temp applied for the position and the entire office just knew they were going to get it. I mean they were already doing the work and doing it well!

Then the newest temp hired who didn't even know how to answer the phone got the job because his family and the top bosses family knew one another. Talking about DRAMA! Even the guy who got the position knew that he wasn't supposed to get it.

I hope nothing like that happens to me.

It sounds like you do, know how you feel, UPSET!
Just pray, that something like that doesn't happen..you know like that temp. Keep having fatiht that that job is your. THat you are the best for the job, and the jopb is yours.

I don't want to say that's life, but thik and keep yourself positvie. Don't even give those 2, 3, 4, 5 plans a thought....f.y.i.damn how many plans did you have? Just keep plan 1, in your mind. All things will work out, for the good. My thoughts are with you Nay Nay, don't let this buzz your weekend.

YB&DL, being that working/interning in an exercise sport science related field is a requirement for me to graduate in December, I can't put all my eggs in one basket. That's why I got a few other places in mind.

I am the last person you should apologize to for grammer stuff! :-D

That sucks. I don't know what to tell you. It's good that you have a few contingencies in place if your top choice doesn't work out. You have a right to be upset. Regardless of the intent or circumstances they lied to you. They led you on and got your hopes up. Figure out how much of this you're willing to take and how long you're willing to wait for them to finally come to a decision. Also remember that when someone shows you who they really are to believe them. See how they're treating you now. Is that something you can or want to be bothered with for however long you'll be there?

Have a good weekend.

It will be interesting how this all plays out. I spoke with the current aide today and asked her if they interviewed anyone else when she got the position (she was a volunteer too). She said that she thinks she was the only person interviewed and it took them about a month for the official call from the HR department. She knew before then that she had it, but the real offer came a month later.

I don't know. I am trying not to think about it tooooo much.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I would imagine they would have to interview a certain number of people even if they DO already plan on offering the position to some one.

What ever the case, I hope you get it, you deserve it. The power of positive thinking couldn't hurt so don't start losing hope.

I will remain positive until I hear one way or the other. The new info still SUCKS!!!!!

they should have told you from the jump that they had to interview other ppl... as you said, there are probably legal reasons for interviewing more than 1 person.

keep your head up!

Don't get all twisted up. Give it a little time and see what comes. I find that things tend to clear up when I step back, let a little time for things to work themselves out, and not stress of over analyze.

don't stress it, hun. If it's meant for you, then it will happen. Focus on the present. I'm sure everything is yours.
