2 weeks

Yesterday about 10pm: I complain for the millionth time to Snookums about how I am stuck in a rut. I supposed to be starting my 400 hour internship with no leads. None of these jobs will bring me on. There's no way I can volunteer that much and keep this job. Without this internship I'd have to graduate in the spring which wasn't acceptable to me.

This morning from 7:30-11am: I am busting my butt applying and calling people who have flexible positions so I can volunteer my butt off in the morning and work at night.

About 11:15am: Lady from the hospital I used to volunteer for calls me and says everything is good to go for me to start volunteering again. I ask her if I could use my volunteer hours as internship hours. She says yeah, just talk to the PT coordinator about it and keep her in the loop. SWEET! Now if I can land a evening/night/weekend job I can get the ball rolling.

About 11:30am: I call one of the caregiver agencies I applied for online to see how long it will take to hear back. I called the state position I applied for and I didn't get it so being that I don't have much waiting time I need to know when I need to at least call back for a status. Dude that answers is the Director of HR and asked if I could come in TODAY at 3:45. Uhhhhhh yeah. I gotta meet Pooka's teacher at the open house starting at 1 so I'll have to leave the office anyways.

About 1pm: Pick up Pooka, go to the school house, meet the teacher, fill out forms and all that good stuff that comes along with a schools open house.

About 2pm: Go home, find something to wear for the interview since the outfit I had in mind is dirty from the family reunion banquet. Shower, get fresh and dressed, head to my interview.

About 3:20pm: Get to interview spot, it was a lot closer than I thought it was.

About 3:45pm: Interview

About 4pm: Accept offer and sign papers

Now: Can't believe that I will be resigning tomorrow and 2 weeks later I will be making less money, but with a flexible schedule that I pretty much dictate. Caregiver agencies usually offer 24/7 services. This company is brand new (so new it has it's grand opening on 9/2) and that means the growth potential is there. Other kinds of potential is there too but I am not focused on that right now. I still got my eye on a PT tech or aide position, but I gotta do what I gotta do to make things work right now till my dream position becomes available to me.

I am back at work wanting to scream and do a dance but I can't! I don't believe any of this. Did I really just accept a lower paying job? Am I REALLY leaving the state at last? OMG! I mean is this day even real? Did all this really happen? Will I wake up?

Congratulations on the flexible job and getting the internship going. It sucks that you have to take a pay cut to do it but you do what you have to do.

Hopefully your new duties won't involve changing a pair of Depends thongs. That would just be nasty. LOL!

Yeah unfortunately it wouldn't be an easy task of finding a flexible evening/night/weekend type position that pays what I make here. Sacrifice is needed sometimes to go to the next level.

Depend thongs Freaky? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Only you!

Look at it this way: you may be taking a pay cut but it will be worth it in the end. Patience is a virtue.
