That's what Pooka told me last night on our way inside Walmart. I thought it was so interesting that I told myself that would be the title of my next blog entry. ****You know your a blog addict when you are thinking about titles for the next day***
Let's rewind....
I went to the mandatory speech competition, which was okay, but I could have and would have preferred that I spent my time working on the rest of my lab report. The only thing that made it ight was the spoken word poets they had to speak while the judges where in the back deciding a winner.
I get home and before I can put my purse down, my mom tells me she wants to go to Walmart. I hand over my keys so she can take herself but she don't want to drive my car so back out the door we go. Pooka starts flooding me with all sorts of questions, mostly ones she knew the answer to. One question she asked while pointing at the night sky was "what was that?" I told her it was the moon and stars and she corrected me and said "no mommy, it's the moon". I just sucked my teeth and laughed because technically she did ask what was THAT instead of what are THOSE.
But anyways, we hop in my car and drive to Walmart. During the ride I am still being drilled with random questions rapid fire style from Pooka. I asked my mom if she did this to her and she said that she never did this upstate. *shrug* One thing that shocked me is that Pooka knows her left from her right. I didn't know she knew it. While at a stop light, she burst out and said "mommy you gotta make a left". I lifted an eyebrow and asked her which was was left (Walmart was to the left by the way) and she pointed in the left direction! I was impressed cuz I didn't know she knew her left from right. So we get to Walmart and Pooka looks up and points skyward.
"There is the moon again"
"Yep, there is the moon again Pooka" I repeated.
"Why is the moon following us?"
Not expecting that question I am silent for a moment. "The moon is soooooooo big and soooooooooo far up in the sky, you can see it almost anywhere you go"
"No mommy, the moon is following us" the look on her face said that she was serious about that thing!
As my mom laughes even harder, she'd been laughing at Pooka drilling me the entire time. I just laugh and reply....
"Yeah, I guess the moon is following us"
Oh how I have missed my baby.......

Baby's these days are growing and learning so much faster than they used to! Your little one sounds so sweet! She's got a mind of her own, too... what a blessing of a trait!
It's one of those moments that we never forget...
beautiful moment. they're so fleeting! children grow so fast and moments like those pile up and then suddenly she's grown and that's that.
you are indeed blessed.
Yep, you are an addict, but I can talk cause so am I, LOL.
I’ve never seen spoken word poets in real life, only on TV. That should have made it VERY interesting!
MLM - Hello! Indeed she is growing up and learning so fast! I am excited, but I ain't ready! LOL
Luv - She'll be 25 and I'll remind her of how she thought the moon was following her. LOL
Nay - She hasn't got to math equations yet, but when she gets in school good, I know they are coming!
Your daughter prolly got it off a tv ad. Pooka recognizes things like stores and restaurants like that too.
Hot spot - she was reaching her question limit for the evening. SHE WOULDN'T STOP asking me stuff! LOL
Nikki - I am not ready for her to be grown! She has to stay my baby for EVER! LOL (j/k)
Nic - The poets were really good, they made me glad I sat through the speeches! I am supposed to go with my girlfriend to a poetry night at some club! It will be my first time in that type of setting.
awww that is so cute! When children speak, man they just give you a whole different perspective!
