Friday the 13th of October

Nothing really going on today. I got to sleep an extra hour because Pooka has a dentist appt. this morning. Then I am going to eat lunch with her at school because it's National eat lunch w/your kid whatever whatever something like that week. There was a flyer in her school folder asking us to come one day this week and eat with your kid. So that's what I am doing. I haven't had public school cafeteria food in a long time. I used to LOVE the tater tots.

The weekend is going to be generic, cleaning, studying, and lounging. How exciting! The meteorologists say that it's gonna be real cold today. In honor of the 13th I should break out my red and grey striped sweater. Wonder if anyone will catch on to my outfit? OHHHH I hope one of the few stations I get on tv does a scary movie marathon late tonight. Pooka can't watch, of course, but I'm in the mood for some horror flicks! Freddy Krueger was one of the funniest!

***Post amendment***

Today is not a day for unlucky stuff to happen! We got to the dentist a tad late but it was all good. Pooka has a small cavity (moment of silence please) which will be filled Monday morning. Pooka doesn't know this yet and they might have to restrain her if she don't act right. :-(

After that we had breakfast and I took her to school. I got home took a nap and I went back up to school for lunch. When I paid Pooka's lunch for the year I specifically told them that she could NOT have any snacks! I guess the lady didn't hear me cuz when I walked in,Pooka had icecream on her plate (which is a snack that cost extra $) I told the lady at the cashier to take snacks off her acct. Then while we are eating lunch one of the lunch monitors told me that she would see Pooka with 2 and 3 snacks on her plate!!! WTF! There is no telling how many snacks she's been eating! There were a fair amount of parents, there was even a black father! I don't want to sound racist but it means a lot to me to see black parents in the school. Our other counterparts are there, why aren't we?

I got back home to meet my local mechanic and he gave me the BEST news ever. Basically he can fix BOTH my vehicles for less than 1/2 of what the insurance check is for! That's even including getting a cd player in the van! That's why I continue to go to him even tho' he is kinda far away! He rocks!

Oh yeah, one last thing that made my day...

After lunch the kids line up and go to the bathroom. When they are done they sit in a line in the hall. I went to give Pooka some love because I was leaving and the girl behind her asked if I was Pooka's mother. I told her yes and she told me I was pretty! AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I told her she was pretty too (which she was) and went bout my business.

Awwwwwwwwwww I been feeling like rolly polly lately and that compliment from Pooka's classmate really made me feel good.

I agree Freddy did not scare me at all he was hilarious. That is so adorable Pooka is still young enough to want to eat lunch with you at school. U know once they get a certain age they dont' wont to be seen with the parents. lol
How old is Pooka?

yeah, i don't like scary movies either. i actually get scared when other ppl find them funny. and then i have bad dreams at night based off the movie i saw. lol... i know, i'm a wuss.

no, it's not "racist" to be glad to see Black ppl at school functions. perhaps i'm just being a little too optimistic, but i sometimes wonder if schools do enough to reach parents who truly can't come to the school during the day. i'm just not so sure all the blame can or should fall on the parents. ok, i'm off my soap box. :)

Happy Friday!

I think the first Nightmare on Elm Street was actually scary because it was different. That was probably the last movie that ever made me stay up after watching it. The Exorcism of Emily Rose was kind of good because how they explained it made sense and it could happen in real life.

I can compliment you. ;o) ;o)

Your not a wuss BB, that is what is "supposed" to happen. I can't speak for other schools but Pooka's school does have certain events in the evening for working parents. The bookfair and the fund raiser distribution run into the evening hours and all the PTA meetings start at 7. So their is a way to make your presence shown every now and again at the school. I just do some of the morning things because my job gives a certain amount of time every year to do things like go on field trips and community service. If I have that as a benefit you bet Imma use it! LOL

But I do understand your point, a lot of the good stuff happens during the school day when most people have things to do.

FD, I don't remember the first one being scary but whatever. Emily Rose is one of those movies that I have been meaning to see. I was trying to group of us to go but nobody wanted to go see it :-( Compliment your heart out, I won't complain! LOL

How old were you when you first saw Nightmare on Elm Street? That could definitely make a difference. I don't think it would scare kids of today seeing it for the first time because so many are desensitized to violence.

Well hello Ladynay! You're looking particularly bootiful today. ;o)

Last night the Poltregiest came on. I was on the phone with Boo and asked if he'd seen it and if it was scary. He said he saw when he was about 8 and he had three versions of terrified for a while. .... Nuff said. I wasn't going to watch it without someone there with me.

Seeing Black men with their children is a beautiful thing to me. It gives me hope that maybe one day I'll give somebody a child or three.

I'd be upset about those snacks too! But you know they've disallowed a lot of the terribly unhealthy snacks and sodas that used to be there when I was in school.

Good deal on the vehicles!

Speaking of the Poltregiest, I used to stare at the white noise screen to freak Aunt Diva out. I have yet to see that movie from start to finish. Not because I was scared, it was because either I came in on it in the middle or something happend that I had to go somewhere or do something. If I come up G-boro you can get Boo to call one of his fine and single boys and we can have a movie night and all watch it together! LOL

Black men w/there kid(s) is a beautiful sight indeed.

Pooka's insane! No wonder she has a cavity! Ugh!

My mechanic is the BOMB...and cheap (minus the cost to get to him) LOL

cool.. Good deal on the vehicles.

Wow! I didn't respond to a comment. DNT, he did give me a good deal.

Rahman, I pretty sure for Halloween more horror marathons will be jumpin off. Don't be hating on the school system tator tots! LOL
