Testimony

I have most Wednesdays "off". I put that in parenthesis because even though I don't have to drive to campus on Wednesdays I still have work to complete, but that's not why I am blogging.
This am after dropping the kiddo off to school I took a walk around the lake. During my walk I was trying to figure out my budget. I get paid x amount every other Friday and this check coming was not going to cover my expenses. Earlier this month I borrowed from folks, so when my last check came it went to paying everyone back! Not a good cycle at all :(. I was prioritizing absolute needs and finally came up with a plan. It was gonna be tough, but I didn't have much choice.

I went to the grocery store to pick up items and over wrote a check (yes I still own checks) to cover my gas to Elon and back till Friday. I had a ton of coupons so I did pretty darn well if I do say so myself. Anywho, I shopped, came home, cooked and was washing dishes when the phone rang. The caller ID said "insert old bank name". I assumed it was a telemarketing call so I did not answer it. Then a few moments later my voicemail indicator popped up. I checked the message and it was a rep from the branch I used to go to asking me to call him back. I was thoroughly confused because I closed my account with said bank well over a year ago. I called him back to find out what he wanted. Long story short he wanted me to know about some new program they had that I qualified for. He mentioned that he noticed I have not used my account in a long time and suggested I move my money over to a savings account....

"What money???? I closed my account over a year ago!" I said as my confusion grew stronger.

He then tells me what my balance is. I tell him it's an error. He tells me it's not and suggested I go to my local branch to figure out what is going on. So I throw on some clothes and do as suggested. Long story short, on Friday I will be officially closing that account and walking away with a check that will cover all my bills for the month with some money to spare for groceries! BOOYAH! I would have closed it today, but they started this new monthly fee thing several months ago and they are going to refund that money back to my account. I have to wait for the refund to hard post to my account tomorrow before I can withdraw it to close the account.

When folks be saying that God makes a way out of no way. They are not lying!

Amen.
